Ringo Starr lets slip Oscar-nominee cast as him in four official Beatles biopics | Films | Entertainment

Speaking with ET, Sir Ringo himself confirmed the rumour that Barry Keoghan has been cast as himself. The 84-year-old Beatles drummer said: “I think it’s great [news] and I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons and I hope not too many!” The 32-year-old Irish Oscar nominee has an incredible back catalogue of work, from Dunkirk, Eternals, and The Banshees of Inisherin to Saltburn, Chernobyl, and Masters of the Air.

UPDATE: Variety adds, “A source close to the film cautions that there are no deals with any cast yet, so this could all fall apart. Even if Keoghan never gets swept up in Beatlemania, this is the closest we’ve gotten to having an actor officially linked to the project.”

Meanwhile, rumour has it that The King’s Man actor Harris Dickinson has been cast as John Lennon and Gladiator II’s Paul Mescal will reportedly play Paul McCartney. Additionally, Charlie Rowe, is rumoured to have been cast as George Harrison in the four Beatles biopics.
