28 Years Later trailer – Fans convinced Cillian Murphy is hiding in plain sight | Films | Entertainment
Announced earlier this year, 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland are reuniting for a new trilogy of 28 Years Later films.
The first, starring Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams and Ralph Fiennes, is set to hit cinemas next summer.
And now the new trailer for this next instalment in the British Zombie franchise shot on iPhones has arrived this morning.
The official synopsis reads: “It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway.
“When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”
Cillian Murphy, who played Jim in the original, is set to reprise the role in 28 Years Later too. However, film fans reckon they’ve spotted him in the trailer, and it does not look good for his character, who was uninfected at the end of the 2002 original film.
As shared on social media, there’s a clip of a skeletal zombie rising from a meadow and some think it has Jim’s likeness.
However, other fans have pointed out set photos of Murphy in human form, so doubt the infected is Jim. Guess we’ll have to wait and see…
28 Years Later is released in UK cinemas on June 20, 2025.
